Grassington is often known as a village, but is in fact a town as it holds a market charter. The market is no longer held, but there are plenty of small shops, boutiques and galleries to browse, as well as cafes and pubs when you need a break.
The town hosts Grassington Festival over two weeks in June, an eclectic mix of music, theatre, comedy, film and visual arts from famous faces and new artists.
It's also an ideal starting point for a walk in the beautiful scenery of Wharfedale, and there are marked walks suitable for a gentle ramble right up to the 84 mile 'Dales Way' from Keighley to Bowness-on Windermere.
