The 36 strikes GOLD at the UK Bus Awards

22-11-2017

The 36, our booming luxury service linking Harrogate with Leeds and Ripon, has won GOLD in the bus industry's leading awards.

We took the top award in the category for Sustained Marketing Excellence at the UK Bus Awards, which saw transport operators across Britain competing in 21 categories covering the skills required to plan, promote and deliver high quality bus services to customers.

The win sets the seal on a year which has seen the 36 achieve a rapid rise in passenger numbers. Just last month, the 36 was increased to run every 10 minutes between Harrogate and Leeds, supported by a £750,000 investment in three additional new buses for the route.

Ben Mansfield, Tim Wilbor and Alex Hornby celebrate with our trophy

There was further success to celebrate in Harrogate as our Marketing and Communications Manager, Ben Mansfield, won the Bronze award in the Young Manager of the Year 2017 category, and the pioneering crowdfunded buses app, VAMOOZ, won Bronze in the New Horizons category.

And the team at our York depot, which runs the Cityzap express bus route between York and Leeds are also celebrating after Cityzap driver Dale French took the Silver prize in one of the most hotly-contested awards in the bus industry, for UK Bus Driver of the Year.

Our CEO, Alex Hornby, said: “I'm absolutely delighted by our success in these prestigious awards, won against fierce competition from transport operators across the UK.

"The 36 won the highly contested Sustained Marketing Excellence award for its growth in modal share, and quality in customer experience & marketing over many years, with a particular focus on the recent investment over the past few years.

“Both the 36 and the VAMOOZ concept demonstrate our relentless approach to being customer focused and forward thinking in all we do – and I'm especially thrilled for Dale and Ben, two of our most hard working people in particular who are at the very heart of our business.

Mark Yexley, Chairman of the UK Bus Awards, said: "Transdev should be so proud of its achievements. For projects and team members to be recognised in so many categories is very impressive.

"The 36 has been refreshed once more in what the judges said was an excellent team effort, led from the front.

"We would like to congratulate the team on their outstanding achievement. There was a lot of tough competition. Well done from everyone at the UK Bus Awards."
