Keeping you moving on the 36

During rush hour periods, we know that things haven't been running quite as smoothly as usual on the 36 as we welcome more and more people on our buses, so we just wanted to let you know about the steps we're taking to make things better for you.

Delays at rush hour in and around Leeds

The volume of cars on the road, and roadworks around the city including at the Ring Road means that congestion is a big problem for our buses during the morning and in particular, evening rush hours. The situation is particularly bad at the moment, with lots of work taking plac as part of the East Leeds orbital route scheme.

What are we doing?

We're adding more buses at peak times, starting from Monday 26 November. There'll also be a member of our team available at New Briggate at busy times, as well in Leeds bus station each day, who you'll be able to speak to to get information about your bus.

We'll also be closely monitoring our buses in Leeds, keeping an eye on them in real-time and turning some empty buses around before they reach the bus station in order to get things back on track.

There'll be a full review of our timetable on the 36 in the New Year, with more departures from Leeds in the evening rush hour.

Busier buses on Saturday evenings due to trains being on strike

Northern Rail are on strike each Saturday, with trains finishing before 7pm. Our late-night buses on the 36, especially towards midnight, are getting extremely busy.

What are we doing?

Starting Saturday 24 November and running all the way through until the end of December, we're introducing an extra journey on the 36 to Harrogate, leaving Leeds at 2345 on Saturday nights.
